Switching
Moving to Househound from the software you use now
Short answer
Most of a switch is your templates and comment library, because that is your wording. Househound reads a Spectora template export exactly, comment library included, and turns spreadsheets, PDFs and photos of templates from any other tool into a draft template you review before using. Client and agent lists import from a CSV or Excel file, and old report PDFs go into a read-only, searchable past-report archive. Run one or two real inspections in both systems before you cancel anything.

The order that works for any switch
- Export before you cancel. Templates, comment library, your client and agent lists, and a PDF of every past report you are required to keep. Many vendors lock exports once an account lapses.
- Bring your templates in first. They take the longest to get right and everything else depends on them.
- Set up the office side. Services and fees, your agreement, email wording, and your booking page.
- Run a real inspection in both. Write it in Househound, keep the old tool open as a backstop.
- Move new bookings over, then cancel. Point your website's booking link at your Househound booking page and let the old subscription lapse at the end of its term.
Questions
Does Househound charge to move my data?
No. Template import is part of every account, with no setup fee. If a file doesn't come through the way you expect, email hello@househoundusa.com and we'll look at it with you.
What happens to reports I already delivered?
Clients keep the PDF or link you sent. Download a PDF of anything your state requires you to retain before the old account closes, then upload the PDFs to Househound's past-report archive on the web (Reports → Archive → Past reports). They stay read-only, are searchable by address, client and date, and can be shared by link or emailed to the client. They don't become editable Househound reports.
Should I cancel my old software first?
No. Keep it until you have delivered at least one real report from Househound. Overlapping for a few weeks costs one extra month and removes the risk.
